Ràdio Arrels

Ràdio Arrels is a radio Catalan woman of Northern Catalogne, born at the spring of the free radios, in 1981.

Initially radio militant and associative of the Association Arrels , gradually installed in the Catalan radiophonic landscape, it professionnalisée all quickly while maintaining its values: proximity, identity, soil, catalanity, opening on the others Catalan Countries and the world, the whole framed by eclectic musical programming.

Pedagogy

The radio wants to be also teaching in more than one way. The Catalan, common language with the antenna, is binding to the listeners as with the speakers, organizers and guests. What supports the social use of the Catalan. The young generations and the new arrivals find there a ground of experimentation, complementary to a discovery and a linguistic and cultural reappropriation starting from the school and of the alive culture. Ràdio Arrels opens to the young people and with school, in particular with the pupils of the Catalan school éponyme, the bilingual dies of the colleges and colleges, the Department of Catalan of the University of Perpignan.

Opening

Between two cultural diaries and the many appointments with information, the radio plow almost all the fields of social reality and daily. The Catalan diaspora likes to find a daily sound bond with the country and the young Catalans of Barcelona, Valence and besides enjoy to listen to songs and musics that the majority of the radios of Catalonia sacrificed to the requirements of the Majors and cultural and commercial levelling.

Ràdio Arrels adheres to the Regional Federation of the NonCommercial Associative Radios of the Languedoc-Roussillon and for this reason takes part in the campaigns supported by the Area and at present in collecting on the exile and the memory of the Spanish and Catalan Republicans.

Ràdio Arrels functions with the daily newspaper with six paid and about thirty voluntary collaborators. One listens to it on the tape FM in plain of the Roussillon: 95.00, in Conflent: 95.50, in Vallespir: 88.20 and in Cerdagne: 93.10.

On Internet: www.arrels.net Médiamétrie credits the radio with 6100 daily listeners, nearly 27000 occasional weekly magazines and 51000 monthly magazines. Taking into account the fact that the radio emits only in Catalan language, these figures forecast of an interest and a realities need for a social communication and of proximity in this language.
