Quraych

The Quraychites , Qorayshites or Koraïchites are the descendants of Quraych (rear qurayš RTL قريش), a rather remote ancestor called also Fihr . They belong to the group of the Arab of North (or Arab arabized ) which said downward Adnan and by him of Ismaël. Six generations after Quraysh, Qusay (quṣay Ben rear kilāb RTL قصيبنكلاب) manages to federate them and take with the tribe qahtani Khuzaa - according to the tradition thanks to a matrimonial alliance - the control of Mecque, its wells and pilgrimage around the Kaaba.

Qusay is the father of `Abd Manaf, large father of Hâchim, great-grandfather of `Abd Al-Muttalib, great-great-grandfather of `Abd Allah, this last being the father of the prophet Mahomet.

A Hadith says clearly that all the Caliph S must go down from Quraychites:

Abd Allah Ben `Umar, pays: The Messenger of God said: The caliphate will remain among Quraych even if there remain only two people on ground ”.

The two first Caliph S: Abû Bakr and `Omar was not selected in the descent of Qusay, but is nevertheless of the clan quraychite. The fourth `Uthman and all the following are all downward of Qusay. One can put the question for the caliphs Othoman Turkish .

The most savage adversaries of the Mahomet prophet were recruited among Quraychites. One of his/her uncles Abû Lahab who is the subject of the divine judgment in the Sourate CXI the cord . Another declared adversary is Abû Sufyân which could opportunely convert with Islam at the time of the catch of Mecque by the Moslem troops. His/her son Mu `âwîya will be the first hereditary caliph, founder of the dynasty Omeyyade.

The March 15th 624, the clan mecquois of Quraychites, which had constrained Mahomet with the exile towards Médine two years before, east demolishes by the small troop of the prophet to the Bataille of Badr, first victorious battle of the Islam, become mythical.

The clan of the prophet bears the name of Hâchim (Hachémites), the sovereigns Jordan NS assert this ascent.

The Sourate CVI of the Coran carries the title Quraych . It is one of the shortest sourates, it invites Quraychites to honor God in the Kaaba.
