Quissac (Gard)

Quissac is a common French, located in the department of the Gard and the area Languedoc-Roussillon.

Geography

Quissac is a village gardois located in edge of the Fleuve Vidourle, not far from Nimes and of Montpellier.

Between sea and the Cevennes, Quissac belongs to these picturesque villages to the rich person passed, surrounded by Vigne S and Garrigue S.

Vidourle can know spectacular risings (vidourlades), name given to believed of the river which are in the memory of all Quissacois. The remainder of the year, Vidourle has a mode close to that of the wadis. Its flow is often low, in summer, almost dry, it is hardly impressive.


Garonette, River knowing to be done discrete, disappears under the village to reappear with the foot of the temple and to throw themselves in Vidourle.

History

The foundation of Quissac goes back to the Middle Ages as the district testifies some to Hurdy-gurdy. Narrow lanes, stone-built houses, the old working of Quissac kept its authenticity.

With the 19th century and the economic advancement of the vine, the village develops, helped by the arrival of the railroad in the Années 1870. Around the “New Camp”, a second village is constituted.
