Quispamsis
Quispamsis is a city of the county of Kings, located at the center of the New Brunswick, in Canada. It is suburbs of the town of Midsummer's Day.
Geography
Quispamsis is located on banks of the rivers Kennebecasis and Hammond and has a lake, the lake Ritchie, in full downtown area.
History
The first inhabitants were Malécites which named this zone " qospemsis" , which means " small lac".Quispamsis acquired the statute of village in 1966 and that of city on December 22nd, 1982.
Demography
There were 15.239 inhabitants in 2006 against 13.579 in 1996, that is to say a rise of 12,2% in 10 years. In term of population, Quispamsis is classified with the 8th rank of the province.
Administration
The Maire is Ron Maloney and the city council men are Daryl Bishop, Murray Driscoll, LISA Loughery, Emil Olsen, Pierre Rioux, Gerry Maher and Beth Thompson.
Culture - Leisures
Quispamsis is the site of Stoneycroft, old “Twelve Mile House”, built towards 1800 and today provincial historical place since 1977. It is about a house loyal supporter reflecting with exactitude the life of the first colonists.
Transport
A ferry crossing the Kennebecasis river connects the city to the peninsula of Kingston.
