Quintus Lutatius Catulus (consul in -102)

Quintus Lutatius Catulus (v. 150 av. J. - C. - 87 av. J. - C.) is a Roman politician. In 102 av. J. - C. he became consul with Caius Marius; the following year, they beat and destroy together the Cimbres, a tribe teutone. In 88 av. J. - C., Catulus supports however Sylla in the civil war against Marius. Catulus is proscribed by Marius in 87 av. J. - C. and commits suicide or is assassinated. Moreover it is, with Valerius Aedituus, the founder of what one will call “sentimental poetry”.
