Quintus Fabius Maximus Rullianus

Quintus Maximus Rullianus Fabius (v. 322/290 av. J. - C.) is a Consul, dictator and Roman general .

Main of cavalry of Lucius Papirius Cursor in 325 and 324 av. J. - C., it benefitted from the stay of this last in Rome for, without orders, to attack and destroy an army of the Samnites to Imbrinium in 325 av. J. - C. followed a strong dispute with Cursor which required its setting of dead for disobedience. In front of the dissensions of the army taking left for Fabius, the Sénat temporized and avoided the worst.

It became Roman Dictateur in 315 av. J. - C. and was five times Consul, in 322, 310, 308, 297 and 295 av. J. - C., and had a big role in the Second war samnite.

In 310 av. J. - C., it beat the allied Étrusque S of the Samnites to the Bataille of the Lake Vadimon. Ten years later, with the Battle of Sentinum (today Sassoferrato, in Italy), Fabius gained a decisive victory over an army made up of Samnites, of Gaulois, Ombrien S and Étrusque S, thus precipitating the end with the war. After its victory, he triumphed last once and paid homage to his colleague Publius Decius Mus deceased during the battle. He withdrew himself in full glory of the businesses.

This Romain would have written an account of miracles concerning the beginnings of the Roman République: the account of the instauratio (repetition of faulty ceremonies) of the Roman Big games, dedicated to Jupiter. Denys d' Halicarnasse mentions us his source. This account is an illustration of what can be the feeling of tradition among Romans.

He is the father of Quintus Fabius Maximus Gurges.
