Quintaine
Term employed with the the Middle Ages. The quintaine is a Mannequin intended to involve the knight S.
Ce mannequin is composed of a pile (planted in the ground) and of a ecu hung on the top.
To transform this drive into entertainment, one hangs a hinged jib on the top of the pile. On this hinged jib a heavy mass fixed on a chain hangs.
The knight, on his Destrier, must touch the ecu with the gallop. If it misses its target, the hinged jib turns and the mass violently strikes it in the back.
