Quincy are a group of human which has exceptional spiritual powers, which have their own very effective techniques of combat against the hollows . The shinigami do not kill the hollows , they purify the hearts and send them to the Soul Society while Quincy, they, eliminate them purely and simply. Because of that there was likely to be a loss of balance between the Soul Society and the world of the alive ones, and since Quincy did not want to cease their activities, they for the majority were exterminated by the shinigami two hundred years before the beginning of the history.

Uryū

Uryū Ishida (), in addition to being Quincy, is also a high-school pupil in the same class as Tatsuki, Orihime, Ichigo and Chad. Uryū is one of the Quincy last. He is the best pupil of second of his college, one also notes that he makes seam, art in which he excels.

Ryuken

Ryuken is the father of uryu. It is a high level quincy having to try in vain to give up its capacities. It is him which will save Ishida without defense vis-a-vis a hollow and which will give again its capacities to him by drawing an arrow with 9mm to him on the right from the heart. But there is a condition, that more nothing to have to make with the shinigamis but it broke the contract by pretexting that Ichigo was only a shinigami substitute. Ryuken will say whereas if Ishida wished to die or live looked at only him. Apparently he knew the father of Ichigo.
