Quiévrechain has a rural origin which remains relatively sensitive and fact part of the territory of the Regional natural park of Scarpe and the Scheldt.
History
In 636, good King Dagobert conceded with saint Lancelin, Bénédictin monk, of the grounds located at Crespin, for the foundation of an abbey of his kind: Quiévrechain holds its origin of this abbey. In 820, less than two centuries later, King Lothaire 1st granted to the monks of Crespin, a certain locality: Kiévrechin. The monks built a modest vault there. Burned into 881, it was rebuilt into 900.
The village, grouped around its small church (with the current site of the Saint Martin's day church), will develop more quickly than that of Crespin. At the 12th century, Quiévrechain was the parish mother of Crespin.
As from the 14th century, the small Saint Martin's day church underwent many transformations to meet the needs for the small village which extends more and more towards White-Misseron.
The castle was burned in 1426 by the garrison of Quesnoy.
Since 1713, date of the division of Hainaut, in imperial Hainaut and French Hainaut, Quiévrechain had as a central role to be used as tariff barrier. The Franco-Belgian border is consisted the course of Aunelle. It is in 1779 only, that the king of France yielded to the Austrian Netherlands, the part of the territory of Quiévrechain which was beyond this river (inter alia, the castle of the 18° S.).
After the Revolution, the exploitation of the basement of Quiévrechain was conceded with the company of Saint-Saulve then to that of Anzin, but the latter gave up the part in the south of the line Valencian-Crespin with Gregoire Joseph Libert who, happier than his predecessors, made crowned surveys of success in 1830. In 1836, it founded the company of the mines of Crespin covering the territories of Crespin, Onnaing, Sebourg, Quiévrechain, Quarouble and Rombies. The concession remained unexploited of 1842 to 1875. The well N° 1 was exploited of 1880 to 1949, N° 2 of 1902 to 1950.
In 1801, Quiévrechain had 445 inhabitants.
As of the end of the 19th century, many companies were créees with White-Misseron.
In 1892, the small Saint Martin's day church having become too exiguous for the 1271 inhabitants, the construction of one second church, Crowned the Heart, starts with White-Misseron.
In 1901,2763 inhabitants; in 1931,6 282 inhabitants; and in 2001,6131 inhabitants.
In 1962, the commune offered 2.771 employment in industry.
Besides in 1972, with the creation of the highway A2 Paris - Brussels, the function of tariff barrier lost all its importance on the same basis as the industrial pole that it had made thrive in its shade, lasting nearly one century.

- the Church of Crowned Heart (known as of White-Misseron)
The construction of the church of Crowned Heart of White-Misseron began in October 1892 and was finished and blessed at the end of 1894, to meet the needs for the 1271 inhabitants. The Saint Martin's day church had become too exiguous and its impossible transformation. Hardly open, it was prohibited with the worship because of a certain communal opposition and was finally recognized like vault of help by Presidential decree of the Republic, of February 25th, 1898 (under the terms of the Legal settlement of 1801, the exercise of the worship was regulated by the State). In June 1918, it was strongly damaged by the successive explosions of a German ammunition dump and, it is in sorry state that it was yielded on November 17th, 1919, with the Company of the Mines of Crespin. In 1946, after the nationalization of the mines, it belonged to the National Collieries. Today, since ten years, the Cambric diocese is the owner.
