The Quattrocento , contraction of thousand quattrocento in Italian, corresponds to the 15th Italian century ; is held there the movement called First Rebirth.
Au Quattrocento, a deep change takes place in Italy. A new era flowers, one era which breaks with the Moyen-âge generally qualified era of ignorance: it is the beginning of the Renaissance.
Under the influence of the Médicis to Florence, arts know an evolution. Cosme de Médicis takes part in the patronage of major artists such as Paolo Uccello or FRA Angelico.
The florentins continue their domination on the Toscane by overriding Pisa in 1406. However, in 1494, Pierre II of Médicis loses the sovereignty of Florence at the time of the events of the arrival of the army of Charles VIII, on the way for Naples since the Lombardy; driven out by the florentins, its family leaves in Exil. Savonarole benefits and establishes from it a Théocratie in the city.
