QuarkXPress

QuarkXPress is a software of CAM (desktop publishing). Intended mainly for the model makers, it makes it possible to carry out advanced page layout of documents intended for the impression. It is usually used in the world of the written press and publicity (creation of booklets, packing, posters…). Its advanced functions of handling of texts and images, typographical management and its compatibility with Illustrator and Photoshop refer in this field of it.

Functions of edition HTML and XML recently made their appearance in the product but they most are still marginally used.

Its main competitor for a few years has been the software InDesign of Adobe Systems preceded by PageMaker. For a few years has existed a competitor free software: Scribus.

The software is currently in version 7.3 as well for the platforms Microsoft Windows as Mac OS X. The version 7x is available for processor the Apple machines Intel (Macintel).

QuarkXPress 7 is equipped with new innovating functionalities. Version 7 offers the transparency and the shadows obviously, but also facilitates the groupware thanks to the zones of compositions and JobJackets. This version 7 integrates the management of the police forces OpenType and the standard Unicode, which facilitates the realization of documents multi-languages using of the nonLatin alphabets. It is however heavier with starting and the recording that the previous models.
