Quandong
The quandong , quondong or fishing of the desert is the name given to the Fruit (and incidentally to the shrub) of three bushes Australia NS including two of the kind Santalum .

the quandong of the desert , or quandong soft, is the fruit of the Santalum acuminatum . The red fruit with core is marketed directly or in jam. It is rich in Vitamine C. The taste points out a little that of the fishing or the Rhubarbe.

the rough quandong is the fruit of Santalum murrayanum . It resembles the soft quandong but its taste is much rougher.

the blue quandong is the fruit of Elaeocarpus angustifolius . It in common has with the others quandongs only the aspect of the core. It is a sour fruit whose texture and taste point out that of the Olive. He is edible only a few hours, rough when he is green, farinaceous when he is too ripe. In fact especially the casoar S consume them and the tradition wants that the seed can germinate only after being last by the digestive tract of the bird.
