Quake 3 Arena

Quake III Arena is a Jeu of subjective shooting created by Id Software and left in December 1999. The play organizes combat of gladiators of the future, either against robots (called club-footed) controlled by the computer, or against of other players via Internet.

Synopsis

Not really of scenario for this play, it does not take again the history of Quake II . In solo it is a succession of arenas which are followed. 4 maps form a chapter (even if the chapter 0 which is the drive and chapter Z (final chapter) are made up of only one map) without really having a coherent bond: it is a tournament. But there is all the same a character emphasized: Sarge, which one sees in the intro play. The " vraie" continuation of the preceding episode is Quake IV .

History

This play marked the history thanks to its Gameplay and its band its, the term Quake-like was used a long time and usually after the exit of the play to indicate similar plays.

Just like its predecessors ( Quake and Quake II ), Quake 3 is not available solely for Microsoft Windows, it also functions under Linux and Mac OS.

Quake 3 by nature, is intended for the network game. Many a mods (modified versions of the play) improves this point, of which here most known:
  • DeFRaG : This MOD, by removing the effects of the weapons on the player (loss of life) makes it possible to carry out lifting figures while being propelled various manners. The Moteur of play developed for Quake 3 Arena by ID Software was bought by several concurrent companies, which could thus develop video games in subjective sight without having to recreate a new graphic engine, operation long and (thus) expensive.
