Quadragesimo Anno
Quadragesimo Anno is a Encyclique of the pope Pie XI, published the May 15th 1931, 40 years after Rerum Novarum (from where its name, in Latin “in the fortieth year”). Written in answer to the Great Depression, it recommends the establishment of an social order based on the principle of Subsidiarité.
The principle of association defended by the pope is not a support with corporatism, as explains it off Michael Novak in her book The Principle Democratic Capitalism .
Quadragesimo Anno contains also a judgment without call of the Communisme and the Socialisme.
