Québécois scale of adaptive behaviors
The Québécois Échelle of adaptive behaviors ( ÉQCA ) is used to make the evaluation of the adaptive behaviors and the inadequate behaviors of the people at which one suspects the presence of a Backwardness.
This type of instrument allows, with the evaluation of the Intelligence quotient (IQ), to direct the diagnosis and the classification of the people having a backwardness.
Various versions
There exist two versions on a Québécois Scale of adaptive behaviors is original version (ÉQCA) for the 3 year old elderly and more and the school version (ÉQCA-VS) for the 6 year old older children to 12 years 11 months.
Moreover, the Québécois Scale of adaptive behaviors original version was translated into English and is entitled: Quebec Adaptive Behavior Scale (QABS).

Guarantors
The guarantors are the parents, the educational personnel or whoever which knows the person well to be evaluated.
Structure
The ÉQCA is divided into two great parts is the adaptive behaviors (225 items) and the inadequate behaviors (99 items).
- the part adaptive Comportements contains seven sets of themes is:
-
the part inadequate Comportements is divided into seven categories is:
- odd
Quotation
It is important to mention that the ÉQCA measures the performance of the person and not its potential. The guarantor must thus take account of what the person made and not of what it could do if it wanted.
The part adaptive Comportements uses the system of quotation which follows:
For each item guarantor must register is 0,1,2 or NP
- 0 = does not do it
- 1 = the fact but… only under verbal or physical stimulation
- 2 = the fact
- NP = Nonpossible, the environment of the evaluated person does not enable him to make the behavior.
The part inadequate Comportements uses the system of quotation according to:
For each item of this section, the guarantor must register is 0,1,2 or 3
- 0 = this behavior does not emit
- 1 = Leger, occasional or benign behavior
- 2 = Average, behavior which requires an action generalized to find a strategy of intervention in order to modify it
- 3 = Serious, rather serious behavior so that the medium rejects the evaluated person or to endanger the health of the evaluated person or others
Standards
The ÉQCA original version does not have a standard, but it allows a critériée classification of the level of operation of the evaluated person.

Guarantors
The school ÉQCA version is presented in the form of two books to fill is one by the relative and the other by the teacher
Structure
The book of the relative is divided into two is the adaptive Comportements (214 items) and the inadequate Comportements (81 items):
- the part adaptive Comportements includes the seven same sets of themes as the ÉQCA original version

Quotation
The system of quotation of the school ÉQCA version is almost identical to that of the ÉQCA original version for the part adaptive Comportements .
For each item guarantors, the teacher and the relative, must register is 0,1,2, H or NO:
- H = Handicap.Un handicap of the newborn does not enable him to make the behavior
- NO = Nonobservable. The conditions of the environment do not make it possible to observe the behavior of the child.
The system of quotation of the part inadequate Comportements of the school ÉQCA version is identical to that the ÉQCA original version
See Quotation of the ÉQCA original version for all the details
Standards
The school ÉQCA version inclusively has standards for the older children from 6 to 9 years. The school version also makes it possible to make a classification critériée by combining the results of the book of the relative and the book of the teacher .
Correction
The correction of the protocols is done by the laboratory of the ÉQCA
