Qalyubiya

Qalyubiya is one of the governorships of Egypt. Its name can be also written kalyobiya.

Situation

It is in the south of the delta the Nile, in the east of the river which forms to some extent its western border.

Economic activities

It is a zone mainly devoted to agriculture. The habitat is dense there, in the form of villages scattered around whose many geometrical pieces of various cultures (cereals, truck farming, fruits) are cultivated.

Industry is also present, in particular in Shubra El-khima, and in Banha, Kaha, Kalioop and Khanka.

The governorship is crossed by a directed principal railway South-North and a long channel of Irrigation which profits from the water of the Nile blocked by several stoppings located at the North-East of Cairo.
