QTL

QTLs ( Quantitative Milks Loci ) (Loci de Caractères Quantitative), not being necessarily genes by themselves, are " morceaux" of DNA which is very related to genes at the origin of the character in question. The heredity of Features (characters) Quantitative refers to a phenotypical characteristic which varies in degrees, and which can be allotted to the interaction between two or several genes and their environment (also called polygenic heredity). QTLs peuvents to be identified moléculairement (by PCR, for example) to help with artographier of the areas of the genome which contain genes implied in the specification of a quantitative nature. This can be a first step towards the dentification, the annotation and the sequencing of these genes.
