QNX

QNX (delivery Q-N-X or Q-nix) is a commercial Operating system Unix compatible real-time POSIX, conceived mainly for the market of the embarked Systèmes. It uses a Micro-noyau.

Description

Like any system using a micronucleus, QNX is based on the original idea to make function most of the operating system like a whole of small tasks known under the name of waiters. The core differs from those more traditional and monolithic, in which the operating system is only one large program with particular faculties. In the case of QNX, the use of a micronucleus allow the users, or more particularly the developers, to decontaminate the functionalities which are not necessary for them, without having to change operating system.

He is also regarded at the same time as light, robust (micronucleus), rapid and complete. Thanks to its compatibility POSIX, many applications Open source were related to QNX.

Its main competitors on this market are VxWorks, Linux, and Microsoft Windows (THIS and Windows XP Embedded).
