Pythiques plays
The Plays Pythiques , most important after those of Olympie, took place, in the honor of Apollon, with Delphes, where as of the first times one devoted to a musical contest anthems with the god ( péans ).
In 582 the festival was reorganized and celebrated since every four years, in the third year of each Olympiad (word indicating the interval between the Olympic Games themselves).
Important musical competitions always held a broad place to with it but one added to it athletic tests and horse-races, on the model of the Plays of Olympie. The Plays pythic appear then among the four greater appointments of the Greek sport (Jeux panhellenic).
The price was a laurel wreath crossed in vallé of the Tempè.
Following the example Olympic Games, the Pythiques Plays were recently renovated under the name of modern Jeux delphic (the first edition of these plays was held with Moscow in 2000). However, these Plays delphic take again only the artistic aspects (not sporting events) and are comparable to an artistic festival.
