Pyrosis

The pyrosis , is a feeling of Brûlure on the basis of the hollow of the Estomac and going up towards the mouth, being able to be accompanied by involuntary food régurgitations.

The pyrosis is an almost specific sign of Reflux gastro-œsophagien, all the more if it joins régurgitations Acide S.

It is thus a very frequent sign, generally related to an anomaly of the continence of the lower Sphincter of the esophagus (which is normally hermetic and the acididé gastric one does not leave to go up).

Physiopathology

Causes

Food likely to cause pyrosis:

Diagnosis

A gastric fibroscopy will be able to show the cause of the pyrosis (hernia hiatale), and its repercussion on the esophagus (oesophagite, endobrachyoesophage,…)

pH-métrie oesophagienne over 12 midnight will make it possible to prove the acid backward flows and to connect them to the signs felt by the patient. It is about an examination practiced after the installation of a naso-gastric probe (introduced by the nose, going to the stomach), connected to external sensors, recording the variations of pH during the 24:00

The exceptional biliary backward flows are not explored by this technique. A bilitech thus should be carried out (but only 2 machines available in France)
