Pyrococcus is one of Archaea pertaining to the phylum of the Euryarchaeota and the order of Thermococcales. The cells are irregular hulls, whipped, heterotrophic, hyperthermophile (growth between 70 and 100 °C) and strict anaerobe.
Pyrococcus abyssi and Pyrococcus horikoshii was collected deep hydrothermal chimneys on the level of the oceanic dorsals. Pyrococcus furiosus was isolated from sediments towards the Vulcano island in Italy.
The Genome S of Pyrococus abyssi and Pyrococus furiosus are entirely sequences.
These micro-organisms are very studied in laboratory in order to better include/understand their multiplication in extreme environments and to discover new proteins Thermostable S having biotechnological applications (Molecular biology).
