Pyramid of complexity

The pyramid of complexity is a diagram classifying, in the form of pyramid, the various known structures of the Univers, of simplest (at the base) with most complex (at the top).

Origin

The pyramid of complexity is used on several occasions in the oeuvres^, of the astrophysicist Hubert Reeves in order to popularize a certain structuring of the Universe starting from its origin, at the time of the Big-Bang, until today.

The pyramid of complexity can be also used to circumscribe the field of study of the discipline S, which helps to describe operation and the connections between the branches of human knowledge.

Description

One of the guiding ideas of the pyramid of complexity is that the Nature seems to be structured like a language.

In a language, we have letters which form words, words which form sentences, sentences which form paragraphs, paragraphs which form chapters, chapters which form books, books which form a library, etc

With regard to nature, we have Quark S which form Proton S and Neutron S, protons and neutrons which form, with electron S, Atome S, atoms which form Molécules, molecules which form Cellules, cells which form Living organisms, living organisms which form ecosystems.

The actual position of human knowledge does not allow to know if we reached the base or the top of the pyramid of complexity.

For the moment, according to the theory of the standard model in physics of the particles, the quarks are considered, with the Lepton S, as being the elementary components of the matter.

For the moment, according to the ecology, the ecosystems are regarded as being the most complex components of nature.
