Pyotr Ivanovich Kafarov
Pyotr Ivanovich Kafarov ( ПётрИва́новичКафа́ров ), also known of its monastic name Palladiy ( Палла́дий ), (1817 – 1878), was a Russian sinologist .
Like its professor Ioakinf Bichurin, Palladiy was an orthodoxe monk. During its stay in China, he discovered and published many new manuscripts, of which the secret Histoire of the Mongols .
Kafarov conceived a system of Cyrillisation for the Chinese Langue (known henceforth under the term of system Palladiy ) and is the official system of transcription of Chinese in Russia.
