The tribe Puyallup is an Amerindian tribe localized in the west of the state of Washington in the North-West of the the United States. After having signed the peace treaty of Medicine Creek in 1854, those settled in an Indian reserve located in the current area of the town of Tacoma. This reserve of 73.935 km ² (2,5 times larger than the Belgium) is very urbanized compared to the other reserves of the country. It sheltered in 2000 a population of 41.341 people. 72% of the residents are today of white origin whereas only 3,2% are of Amerindian origin.

The original language of the tribe was a language of the type Salish usually spoken in this area by the natives.

Bob Satiacum , a lawyer mediatized in the years 1960 and 1970 for the defense of the rights of the Amerindians, was a chief of this tribe. The current chief of the tribe names Hermann Dillon .

The majority of the incomes of the tribe comes from the money plays and in particular from the casino Emerald Queen Casino .
