Puteaux is a town of France, in the suburbs western of Paris, on left bank of the the Seine and located at the center of the department of the Hauts-de-Seine. Its inhabitants is called the Putéoliens .

Geography

Located on left bank of the Seine, the town of Puteaux is bordering on Courbevoie in north, Nanterre in the west and Suresnes in the south. To the east, Puteaux is connected to Paris by the bridge of Puteaux and to Neuilly-sur-Seine by the bridge of Neuilly (bridge borrowed by the line 1 of the subway). Lastly, the territory of this commune includes/understands most of the island of Puteaux, on the Seine.

Districts

One can distinguish several great geographical areas in Puteaux:

The Low of Puteaux , ranging between the railway line and the Seine, is the district in the past urbanized. Are there in particular the old church, the theater of the Hauts-de-Seine, the town hall, and a very commercial zone in the neighborhoods of the streets Jean Jaurès, Eichenberger and Chantecoq. The town hall was built in 1934, and presents a typical architecture of this time (see photo). The boulevard Richard Wallace wants to be as for him a kind of " Fields-Élysées " putéolien. There exists also a Theater street Henri Martin.

At the west of the railway line is located the Haut of Puteaux , which is a district a little more recent, made up of several residences and HLM (residences of the rose trees, Cartault, Marcellin Berthelot, Bernard Palissy…). The Lorilleux residence, for example, was built with the site of the old manufacturing planies of Encre.

At north, separated by the circular boulevard, the district of Defense is, developed since the end of the Années 1950. This one includes/understands offices, but also dwellings (Tour Defense 2000, Résidence Boieldieu…). Defense, one of the principal districts of businesses of Europe, extends to the 2 thirds on the territory from Puteaux (the remainder being divided between Courbevoie and Nanterre). Thus, CNIT, the Arch of Defense and the shopping mall of the Four Times are in Puteaux.

Lastly, the island of Puteaux, on which there is no dwelling besides some Péniche S, but which shelters sporting structures (grounds of Tennis, of Football, gymnasium, swimming pool). A sports complex, the " Palate of the sports" , in July 2006 opened.

Economy

The tax revenue of Defense does of Puteaux one of the richest communes of France: only the professional tax coming from the companies of the district of businesses brings back to him forty million euros per annum. The city does not have a debt and its financial reserves placed in bills the Treasury (228 million euros in 2004) bring back each years to him ten million euros in interests. The budget of the city can thus exceed the 200 million euros (reference 2005), for only 42  000 inhabitants.

The town of Puteaux has a long industrial past, in particular in the fields of the car (Of Dion-Button, but also Unic, Saurer and Daimler-Benz), of aeronautics (Zodiac), of the armament (the Workshops of Puteaux were indicated by the initial APX), of inks (Charles Lorilleux), of the perfumes (Coty), etc

Policy

The city was directed of 1948 with 1969 by Georges Dardel (SFIO), then of 1969 with 2004 by Charles Ceccaldi-Raynaud (UMP). In 2004, this last resigned for health reasons. His/her daughter, Joelle Ceccaldi-Raynaud (UMP), 1st associated, was elected in her place by the municipal council. After having been the temporary deputy of Nicolas Sarkozy on the 6 {{E}} district of the Hauts-de-Seine (Puteaux/Neuilly-sur-Seine), Joelle Ceccaldi-Raynaud became about it titular with the legislative elections of June 2007. Charles Ceccaldi-Raynaud remains 9th mayor-assistant and general adviser of Puteaux.

The management of the city by Charles and Joelle Ceccaldi-Raynaud is considered by certain (opposition and sometimes certain people of their political own camp in the Hauts-de-Seine), like authoritative. This criticism regularly has echoes in the media (like the daily newspapers Libération , Le Monde , Parisian the edition of the Hauts-de-Seine and the news magazine the Express train which made of it its cover on October 20th 2005).

In September 2005, Charles Ceccaldi-Raynaud announced his intention to become again mayor in the place of his daughter, but this one refused to resign, which gave place to several " fixings " , in particular during the Municipal council (reported in a dispatch of the AFP of the November 21st 2005). Charles Ceccaldi-Raynaud announces that it will be presented against his daughter to the municipal election of March 2008.

Business of the " shooting of Puteaux"

In 1971 in Puteaux during the municipal countryside, a socialist billsticker is killed by partisans of Charles Ceccaldi-Raynaud, then mayor. A lawsuit takes place in 1974, which does the one of the newspapers (Le Figaro, the Dawn, Le Monde). As employees of the town hall were implied, Charles Ceccaldi-Raynaud is judged with the civil responsible for the shooting and is condemned to pour more 200  000 francs of damages to the civil part.

This news item inspired the scenario writer Pierre Granier-Removes iron for his film Adieu chicken (1975) with Lino Ventura and Patrick Dewaere.

MonPuteaux.com business
