Pusan

Pusan (or Busan according to the system of transcription of selected Korean) is an important harbor city of South Korea.

Character

With roughly 3,7 inhabitants million, Pusan (부산) is the second town of South Korea, after Seoul (서울). Its urban surface (Ulsan (울산) - Changwon (창원) - Koje - Pohang (포항) - Gimhae (김해)) cash 12  250  000 inhabitants makes of it a more populated zone than Chicago, HongKong or Paris.

The market of Chagalchi (자갈치시장) (close to the very active port) is a district with the narrow streets and with the many gravers, known for its Marché with the Poisson S. a relatively significant part of the population of Pusan (부산) is of Russian origin . A district known under the name of “street of the foreign stores” counts many Russian trade, the exchanges are made mainly in Korean there and Russian. The sector was called “street from Abroad initially” because many companies settled there during the years 1940 and 1950 to supply the American troops in the sector.

History

The Free zone of Pusan-Jinhae, one of the two only ones of the kind in South Korea (the other is established in the port of Incheon), was created to perpetuate the statute of Pusan as an international business district. It now attracts Navire S of all the horizons and aspires to becoming a regional financial center. Moreover, Pusan is regarded by the AAPA (American Association of the authority harbor) as the third seaport on a world level as well by the importance of its traffic as by its effectiveness.

This city played a big role during the Guerre of Korea (1950 - 1953), since it was one of the rare areas to remain constantly under South Korean control: the “Perimeter of Pusan (1950)”, and its port, allowed the military reinforcements UNO, mainly of the the United States, to unload massively, and to leave to the reconquest the peninsula.
