The purple wood is a very dense and very hard wood. It is a matter often used to make Sculpture S since, in spite of its solidity, it is rather easy to carve. It can come from several species of the kind Dalbergia pushing in the Tropique S, in particular in India, America or with Madagascar.

The purple wood is used in the manufacture of musical instruments: the Basson French is in purple wood of Rio, the key of the handles of electric guitars is very often made in purple wood, the blades of Xylophone and Marimba also.
