Puroresu

Puroresu indicates the Catch in Japan. It was introduced a little after the second world war. But the fight became celebrates as from 1951. Female wrestling also exists, it is the Joshi Puroresu . Wrestling is rather regarded as a sport with the Japan, while with the the United States, it is regarded as an entertainment. That is due mainly to the fact that the puroresu never uses stories and settings in scenes, and that the practiced style is generally based on the Shoot wrestling, i.e. the fact of not attenuating the blows and projections so that the combat is most realistic possible.

Rules

They very close to those are used in the other styles, a match can end in one:

  • fōru : deduct of 3.

  • nokkauto : knock-out (the all-in wrestler loses the match if it is not raised at the end of 10 seconds).
  • ringu car : deduct external (In the United States, the calculation is done at 10 seconds while in Japan, it is done at 20 seconds).
  • gibappu : abandonment by catch of tender.
  • the disqualification also exists in Japan but this fact is rare contrary to the United States.

The characteristic of wrestling in Japan

With the Japan, the championships are the cause major of a competition. It there no setting in scene, not of stories, of cheating, in the same way the system Face/Heel which is used in the other styles does not exist in Japan, there are no all-in wrestlers appreciated by crowd and others which are not it. The atmosphere around a match of puroresu is similar to that of a match of boxing or martial arts.

However, with the rise in popularity of the American giant World Wrestling Entertainment, the puroresu starts to be interested in the side entertainment of wrestling. Thus promotion HUSTLE creates in 2004, is the first in Japan to propose stories and setting in scene in its representations.

Style

The style varies according to the federations. The Japanese all-in wrestler generally use the Shoot wrestling, the free Lucha and in certain federations the Catch hardcore.

Foreigners in Puroresu

Much from abroad fights in Japan, the majority are Americans, in particular Stan Hansen, Steve Williams, Big Van Vader, Hulk Hogan, Chris Benoit, Road Warriors, Scott Norton, Dynamite Kid or Brock Lesnar. But with the introduction of the free in the Nineties Lustred, it is with the turn of Mexicains to arrive at Japan.
