  • the king Visigoth Athanaric must in its turn flee of Transylvania to pass the the Danube at the end of 380. It takes refuge with Constantinople to personally humiliate in front of the emperor Théodose I {{er}} (January 11th).

  • the Skires (German Eastern) are combined with the Huns.

Religion

  • June: Gregoire de Nazianze, named patriarch of Constantinople, resigns of its station. Nectaire replaces it.
  • July: Enclose I {{ecumenical er}} council of Constantinople (second ecumenical council): final judgment of the Arianisme and the sabelliens. The doctrines of Nicée are confirmed, and the consubstantiality of the Spirit with the Father and the Son marked. Introduction of the patriarchates: Rome, Constantinople, Alexandria, Antioche and Jerusalem. The head office of Constantinople is placed above the other Eastern seats.
  • September: Council of Aquilée. Gratien condemns also the heresy arienne in Occident. The bishops ariens of Dacie Pallade and Sécondien are deposited.

  • Prohibition with the private individuals of the pagan sacrifices.
