Pure pot still whiskey
The pure pot still whiskey is a Whiskey Irish manufactured starting from Orge and distilled in a Pot still.
It is similar to the Single malt however the Céréale used to make the alcohol is a mixture of barley not Malt ée and of malted barley when the individual malt uses only second. The ratio between barley and malted barley can vary, in general one uses barley 60% not malted for malted barley 40%.
The origin of this whiskey goes back to the 18th century. It is a whiskey of very great quality and ignored enough. The not malted barley addition made it possible one time to circumvent the Taxe on malt and to reduce the taxes on the whiskey.
One finds pure the pot still whiskeys in their “rough” form like the Redbreast , the Power' S or the GreenSpot , but also mixed as in Blends Jameson .
