Pure Dated
Pure Dated (or shortened Pd) is a graphic software of Programmation for the musical creation and Multimédia in Real-time. It also makes it possible to manage signals entering the computer (signals of sensors or event network for example) and to manage outgoing signals (by protocols of network or electronic protocols for the piloting of various materials).
Origin
It draws its origin from the editor Patcher writes by Miller Puckette in 1988. The software was yielded to the Opcode american company, where it was rewritten by David Zicarelli, under the new name of Max/MSP. Miller Puckette decided to take again the design of Patcher to make a Free software and transportable at musical ends in real-time.It is distributed freely on the Web, is maintained by Puckette, now director-associate of the CRCA (Center for Research in Computing and the Arts) of the University of California. Many developers, thereafter, joined the project.
Operation
Pure Data is a conceived system in a modular way. Each user can thus adapt the software according to his needs. He exploits a advanced nonprocedural computer programming language (directed Programmation object) which makes it possible the user to carry out modifications with the code in real-time without this one owing each time recompilé being. However, the non-linearity of this approach can sometimes cause difficulties in the design of the patchs, especially at the stage of composition. It can in particular involve confusion in comprehension and management about the operations.Technically it is not a computer programming language as such, but an environment of implementation, where the user assembles ends of codes created by others, which allows a high-speed prototyping. The interface of the software is thus a visual representation of the logic which underlies the programming.
The Community
Around Pure Dated revolves a community made up at the same time of developers and users, since it is about a free software. The first create new objects in language C or contribute to improve general operation of the program. The seconds use it at dependant artistic ends, inter alia, with the musical and video performance like with the interactive installations. It is it should be noted that Wiki inter alia French-speaking person named Pdpédia was launched to the autumn 2007.

GEM
compatible Linux - Win - Mac OSGEM means " Graphics Environment for Multimedia" (in French " graphic environment for the multimédia"). She was written per Mark Danks for the production of images in real-time, particularly for the audio-visual compositions. She allows the handling of object of synthesis, images and vidéos via the use of OpenGL. She reads mainly the MPEG.

PDP/PiDiP
compatible Linux - Mac OS" Pure Packet" Dated; (pdp in summary) is dedicated to the treatment of the video written by Tom Schouten. PiDiP is an extension written by Yves Degoyon. It makes it possible to use several videos out (xgl, xv, sdl), allows the reading of the QuickTime, the use of the freeframe effect and effecTV.
