Purdue Boilermakers is a club general sports university of the Université Purdue, in the Indiana, with the the United States. The teams of Boilermakers take part in the university competitions organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Purdue belongs to division Big Ten Conference.
The nickname of the sportsmen of Purdue goes up with 1891. At the end of October 1891, they are binding 44-0 in an American football game vis-a-vis the rivals of Wabash College. The press then calls the team “boilmakers” (Chaudronnier) in order to stress the rough force of Purdue vis-a-vis the intellos of Wabash College.
The team of American football uses the Ross-Ade Stadium, enclosure of 62.500 places inaugurated the November 22nd 1924. This stage is in phase of restoration and will count at the end of work more than 80.000 places.
The basketball players play Mackey Arena, room of 14.123 places inaugurated the December 2nd 1967.
