Punk Horror

The horror punk is a style of Musique which mixes sonorities of the Punk rock'n'roll with a dark imagery inspired of films of horror. Contrary to the Gothic Music, the punk horror uses an obscure symbolic system within the framework of black humor. Here death ready to laugh, it is the excuse to use any kind of monster, Zombies or others Vampires. The texts often tackle subjects very inspired of the cinema of Série B, and more particularly by the Italian films gore of years 70/80, like those of George A. Romero, Lucio Fulci or Dario Argento. Let us note that the musical style of the punk horror approaches more the scene Death Rock/Batcave that punk scene Hardcore, and that it tends more to use cold sonorities of the Gothic music than those, heavier, of the metal.

The group worship The Misfits is often regarded as being the first true punk horror group. But of other formations quickly appeared, like Serious Samhain (maintaining more known under the name of Danzig, group of Doom metal carried out by old the frontman of Misfits), 45, or Mourning Noise.

Nowadays still, the continuous punk horror of living by the means of the Internet sites which are devoted to him (horrorpunk.org or World Horror Network), and thanks to the few current groups which try to renew this kind rather ignored (ex: Miguel and the Dead Living room). Certain groups known of the general public such as Murderdolls or Wednesday 13 make use of a musical and vestimentary style very near to the punk horror.
