History of the publications

Origins

The character of Punisher is inspired by Mack Bolan, the Executor, who was created by Don Pendleton for a series of thrillers published as from the year 1969. The character appears for the first time in a cartoon where he is confronted with Spider-Man. Rebirth of Punisher

In 2000, two new mini-series started again the character, who is published again regularly since, with the scenario writer Garth Ennis with the orders under the label MAX of Marvel. The series found a more realistic tone, removed from the gadgets and super-heroic aspect which had denatured Punisher.

However in 2007, a new series, Punisher War Newspaper , is launched, scénarisée by Matt Fraction. It reintroduces the character in the Marvel universe at the time of the Crossover Civil War .

Fictitious biography

Childhood

Ultimate Punisher
