Pune

Pune (Marathi: पुणे) (formerly named Punvadi ) is the second city of the Indian State of the Maharashtra with 3,75 million inhabitants (the punekaris ), who in their large majority speak the Marâthî. She is regarded as the cultural capital of the State and she has a university, faculties and centers of famous lesson.

Geography

Pune is with the junction of the rivers Mula and Mutha with 554 meters of altitude on average. The lake of reserve of Khadakwasla in the south-west of the city allows the water provision.

History

The city was the capital of the empire Marathe at the 17th century. Its strategic importance is stressed by the presence of many forts built on the hills neighborhood.

Economy

Pune is an important industrial center, in particular for construction Automobile. It shelters one of the largest manufacturers of two-wheeled vehicle, Bajaj Auto. Touched Motors and Daimler-Chrysler has assembly lines there.
As in much of Indian big cities, the establishment of data-processing companies experiences a strong development.
It is also the seat of the National Chemical Laboratory, one of the most important research laboratories in chemistry of India and one of the principal Indian strategic centers of telecommunications.
Infotech Park de Pune is to 20 km of the city, in Hinjewadi. One finds all the Indian large companies there, such as Tata Technologies, Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant, as well as universities IT. Pune is known as being small Silicon Valley, behind Bangalore.
With the construction of the highway, Pune is from now on with less than three hours of Mumbai.
