Etymologiquement the genetic part comes from the Gothic wulf or Wolf , (syllable of the name which one finds in the name of many localities). An outline of the current orthography appears as of the 14th century Bulffersheim (1369) and (1506) Wulfersheim (1544) then Pulversheim (1725). With time the malicious wolves ( wulf , Wolf ) were transferred in bird, cuckoo, messenger of spring. The situation of Pulversheim on an old Celtic way supported the passage of the tribes towards the west. The successors of Clovis created the duchy of Alsace and increased their authority on our area, having grounds going of Sundgau to Seltz. Under the Carolingians, Pulversheim depends on Sundgau and the bishop on Basle. The revolution, by creating new administrative divisions, makes belong the commune of Pulversheim to the department of Haut-Rhin, the district of Colmar and the canton of Ensisheim.
