Pully is a common Suisse of the Canton of Vaud, located in the District of Lausanne.

Geography

The town of Pully is at the edge of the Lac Léman, in the east of Lausanne. The altitude of Pully varies from 375 m with 800 Mr.

History

Prehistory with the 21e century, Pully did not cease being inhabited since the man of Chamblandes of the Neolithic time established its districts there: the archeologists discovered with Chamblandes the most important whole of tombs of the Neolithic time known to date in Suisse.

Later, in fact the Romains will mark their passage, in particular called Pollius which would have given its patronym to Pully. The vestiges of a supposed Roman villa to have belonged to him are still visible, and constitute the principal attraction of the Roman Musée of Pully.

Of village of Vine grower S, Pully, “having burst” between 1950 and 1970, became a city of: 16000 inhabitants.

Many personalities, painters, novelists, musicians, scientists and poets there lived and contributed to the radiation of the city: the poet and writer Charles Ferdinand Ramuz just like the dramatic author Jean Anouilh, the musician Emile Strainer, the scenario writer Henri Verneuil, the painters Raoul Domenjoz, Marius Borgeaud, the philosopher Arnold Reymond, the general Henri Guisan well of others still.
