Jaume Cabré I Fabré (Barcelona, 1947) is a philologist and Catalan writer .

Bachelor in Catalan philology with the University of Barcelona, professor certified in exemption of activity and teaching with the University of Lleida, member of the philological section of the Institute of Estudis Catalans.

It combined during many years, the writing and teaching. He also worked with the writing of scenarios for television and the cinema. In company of Joaquim Maria Puyal, he was the creator and the scenario writer of the first Catalan televised series: Granja (1989-1992), which was followed by other titles such as Estació d' Enllaç (1994-1998) and Crims (2000) as well as the telefilms rammed It blanca (1987), Nines Russian (2003) and Sara (2003). He in addition wrote the script of films of Antoni Verdaguer, the teranyina (1990), inspired by his own novel and Havanera (1993), in co-operation with Jaume Fuster, Vicenç Villatoro and Antoni Verdaguer.

Its literary work

Beginnings

In El mirall I (1980) will ombra it appears for the first time the music as well as certain way, the reflection on the value of artistic creation, which will become recurrent themes of its work.

In 1980, it publishes a work of children's literature, the novel the història that in Rock Pons No coneixia and a year later, the news El blauet .

Consolidation

In 1984 and 1985 the three titles appear which will constitute the Cycle of Feixes to which he worked already since many years. In 1984 appears the teranyina , a history which proceeds during the tragic Semaine (1909) and which tells the vicissitudes of this period not with Barcelona but with Feixes, thus establishing a literary correlation with the town of Terrassa. The combat for the political power, economic and family shows through in the behavior of many characters of the Rigau family and in that of other characters present in this novel.

The same year 1984 sees the publication of FRA Junoy O the agonia dels its S, a novel with slow gestation like all the novels published by Cabré as from this period, in which in addition to the mysteries of the ecclesiastical world of Feixes and the monastery of Sant Carlos of Ràpita, of which the protagonist incarnated by the monk is the confessor, the music plays a central role. Some of the characters of the teranyina as well as the world of Feixes, are present in this novel which constitutes in a certain manner its prolongation. This work puts in the high-speed motorboat the character of FRA Junoy, a victim of those which hold the capacity to handle.

In 1985 the news Luvowski O is published the desraó which represent the last stage for the characters and the families which lived in the two preceding novels. The history was published in an account entitled Llibre of preludis in which the music holds a place even more important than before.

In 1984, it publishes its second book for child: the home of Sau .

Maturity

In 1991 Senyoria , a bearing novel appears on the legal corruption which emanates from the absolute capacity, located in Barcelona of the end of the XVIIIe century. So with FRA Junoy, it depicts a victim, it depicts now with gift Rafel Massó, civil regent of the Royal Audience of Barcelona, the character of the torturer through his fears and its selfishness.

will ombra It of the eunuc (1996) is a novel which gives an account of the last years of the Franquisme, of the Transition and the following years from the point of view of the author, personified by Miquel Gensana, the main character. It is at the same time about a novel of reflection on artistic creation and more particularly, on musical creation. The structure of the novel is based on the structure of the Concerto for violin and orchestra of Alban Berg.

While it starts to work on the following novel, it allows an incursion into other literary kinds. In 1999, it publishes El felt ficció a test on literary creation, the writing, and the creative process of the writer.

In 2000 takes place a return to the account with Viatge of hivern which is composed of 14 stories subtly dependant between them. The reader does not have of cease to discover these relations as it progresses in his reading even if each history is during places and very different time. This work is a glance on Europe which we were not able to build.

The following year, 2001, it publishes and exploits for the first time at the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya, theatrical work Pluja seca , bearing on the topic of the falsification of the historical memory and the fact that they are the winners who write the history. This one puts in scene a whole of characters like the two schoolmasters, Oriol Fontelles and Tina Bros or the female character of Elisenda Vilabrú. The historical memory, the impossibility of forgiveness and the fear of the lapse of memory are certain topics which appear in this novel.
