The pukeko ( Porphyrio porphyrio melanotus ) is a New Zealand subspecies of Talève sultana (in the past hen sultana).
He attends the marshy grounds and the pastures, nourishing various paludous or herbaceous plants. He also nourishes animals, mainly of Insecte S and Araignée S, but also of frogs, small birds and eggs.
This hen sultana builds his Nid on a platform, within grasses or of the immersed rock blocks.
