The Puget Sound is an arm of the sea of the Pacific Ocean bordering the North-West of the the United States of America. The area around accommodates four of the six plus big cities of the State of Washington: Seattle, Tacoma, Everett and Bellevue. It counts approximately four million inhabitants. It is also the first aeronautical pole in the world in front of Toulouse and Montreal.

The Amerindian name in language lushootseed is “ Whulge ”. Its current name of “Puget Sound” was given to him by George Vancouver in the honor of the lieutenant of Royal Navy, Peter Puget (of origin Huguenot E) which explored its southern ends in May 1792. Vancouver in taken possession in the name of Great Britain on June 4th, 1792. It was integrated into Oregon Country and became an American territory in 1846 when was signed the Traité of Oregon.

Fauna

The bay shelters largest Mollusque in the world consumed by the man. Named panope, this one can weigh more than eight kilograms.
