Puget-on-Argens

the Puget-on-Argens in French (to pronounce //), Lo Puget d' Argenç in Of Provence according to the traditional standard, Lou Puget d' Argèns according to the Standard mistralienne (to pronounce/), is a common French, located in the department of the Var and the area Provence-Alp-Coast of Azure. It is called Pugeton to distinguish it from the city formerly more important of the Puget-City.

The inhabitants of Puget-on-Argens are the Pugétois in French, the Pugetan (S) in Provençal according to the traditional standards and mistraliennes.

Geography

Puget on Argens is a commune of the Var, located at the east of the department in the valley of the Argens between the solid masses of the Moors and the Esterel, in the middle of the Vignoble of Côtes of Provence.

Climate

Puget-on-Argens is located on the Riviera and profits from a Mediterranean Climat with the be S heats and dry and with the Hiver S soft and wet. The mistral breath sometimes although the commune is sheltered by the solid masses of the Moors and Esterel, it can be more exposed with the raising or the Sirocco which fortunately seldom occur but which borrows sometimes the little boxed valley of the Argens.

One can reach it by old RN 7, or the highway has 8 (left 39).

Toponymy

The name of the commune is resulting from the Latin word podium , small hillock, on which was built the Roman villa Pogito dependant on the colony of Forum Julii. The reference to the river Argens which runs on the territory of common was decided in 1886 to distinguish the commune from the Puget-City located at 48 kilometers in the same department of the Var. For the same reason, it so called the Pugeton .
