Puffinus

The Puffinus gathers birds sailor of the family of the Procellariidae and named, as for other kind, Puffin.

Etymology

The term Puffinus is borrowed from the English puffin since the 14th century at least, it is of dubious origin but could derive from to puff* because of the inflated aspect which this bird would have. Today, the term exclusively indicates in English the species of the kind Fratercula , of the Macareux, which can generate a certain confusion. Moreover the taxonomy of this group evolved/moved much.
