Puerto Limón

Puerto Limón or Limón is a city costaricaine, chief town of the province of Limón. It is about the most important port of the country, located on the coast Caraîbe and true economic and political center of all the area. Its population is estimated at 105.000 inhabitants in 2005.

Industry

An oil refinery is with 8 kilometers of the city and fact part of the harbor complex of Moín.

Transport and education

Since 1989 a modern road connects San Jose to Puerto Limón. The city counts a public university and some private universities as well as many schools and colleges.

Tourism

In the south of the city some of most beautiful beaches of Costa Rica are the: Cahuita, Puerto Viejo, Cocles, Gandoca, Manzanillo, etc In north, the National park of Tortuguero, crossed by natural channels, constitute the most important zone of laying of the green tortoises of the west of the Caribbean.
