Publius Decius Mus is a Roman famous for its devotion.
In 343 av. J. - C., at the time of the First war samnite, being military Powerful orator, it saved the Consul Aulus Cornelius Cossus Arvina which had been let lock up by the Samnite S in the throats of Saticule. He was elected Consul three years afterwards.
In a battle which it delivered to the Latin S with Veseris, close to the Vesuvius, with its colleague Titus Manlius Imperiosus Torquatus, it was devoted to the infernal gods in order to ensure the victory the Romain S, and was thrown in the middle of the enemy rows where it perishes bored blows.
Décius had a wire and a grandson which, says one, imitated his devotion, the first with the Bataille of Sentinum, delivered to the Gaulois and Samnites, -295; the second with the Battle of Asculum, in the war against Pyrrhus in -279.
