Publius Aelius Paetus is a Roman politician of 2nd and 1st front centuries J. - C. Brother of Sextus Aelius Paetus Catus (Consul in -198) and father of Quintus Aelius Paetus, him also consul in his turn.
In -202 it is Maître of cavalry and is elected Préteur. The following year it is Consul.
It is one of the ten to décemvir which distributes grounds to the veterans of Scipion the African in the area of the Samnium and in Apulie.
In -199 it is critic with Scipion the African.
According to Tite-Live he dies in Rome of the Peste in -174.
