Publius Aelius Gutta Calpurnianus
Publius Aelius Gutta Calpurnianus is as famous as the coachman Dioclès. An honorary inscription (THEY, 5288) teaches us that it will contribute for the four Factions of the circus: reds, greens, the blue ones and white. The coachmen could aini pass from a faction to another to the court of their career. It added up 1 ' 127 victories and empocha 1 ' 230 ' 000 sesterces.
This coachman took part in different races from tanks. For example, it gained three races as a remissus . But about what is it? This term seems to designate the winner of a race which “was started again” following a tight arrival or perhaps following a false start. Gutta Calpurnianus was also vistorieux has pumped , i.e. a victory gained directly after the solemn procession. Consequently, the race which followed the procession directly inaugural bore the name of race has pumped . This valorous driver of tank gained also a victory of a race known as pedibus AD quadrigarigam . With what can correspond well this type of race? It must probably be a question of a race of tanks where the competitors were to traverse with the step of race the last meters.
