Public secondary school Of the Room

The public secondary École Of the Room is a school of the Council of the public schools of the East of Ontario. The school is located at Ottawa, Ontario and it accommodates the pupils of 7th at the 12th year.

History

The public secondary school Of the Room opened these doors in Fall 1971. The first pupils of the school was those of the convent of the St-Joseph Mount, of the convent of the street Rideau and those of the Academy Of the Room. Just like the Academy Of the Room, the public secondary School Of the Room had its name of Jean-Baptiste Saint of the Room.

In 1982, a study committee recommends the creation of a center of enrichment for the exceptionally gifted pupils. The committee recommends besides that the center either creates and integrated into Room.

It is thus into 1983 that Room opens its Center of douance and its artistic Center of excellence . The school becomes the first in Ontario to offer these two French programs.

In 2003, the public secondary School Of the Room opened its doors with the pupils of 7th and 8th years following the decisions of the two principal French-speaking councils of Ottawa to close the intermediate schools to integrate its pupils has several secondary schools.

Center artistic excellence

The artistic Center of excellence of the public secondary School Of the Room gathers seven concentrations connected to arts of 9th at the 12th year. The concentrations are:

visual and media Arts
Instrumental music
vocal Music
Writing and literary creation
Theater
Contemporary dance (in bond with the concentration Ballet)
Ballet (in bond with the concentration Contemporary dance)

The artistic Center of excellence is the pride of Room, since it gained several prices and contest. Recently, the vocal ensemble senior Of the Room gained the first place with the 16th Contest main road of vocal music of the Société Radio-Canada and was recently invited as well as the Choral society senior Of the Room to give concerts to the embassy of Canada in Japan.

Center douance

The Center of douance of Room is closely dependant with the school, while keeping a structure well with it. According to the Web site of the school, " (...) its teaching program and its structure enable him to offer courses centered on the particular needs for a homogeneous group. It gives the opportunity to the pupils, by a daily interaction, to share their private interests, their taste of the study and their concern of excellence. "
