Public limit company of real estate credit

The public limit companies of real estate credit (SACI) are, in France, of the organizations of housing public sector. Their statute is defined in the L.422-4 articles and following of the Code of construction and the dwelling. Subjected to the private law, they can as follows:

  • to grant to the private individuals real loans opening right to the Assistance personalized with housing.
  • to carry out operations of construction.

Created in 1908, the SACI are approximately an about sixty today. The SACI are obligatorily affiliated with the employers' federation of the SACI. The network of the SACI is owner of the Real estate credit of France.

Evolution of the statute

In January 2006, the Gouvernement Dominique de Villepin deposited an amendment with the bearing bill national engagement for housing in order to center the SACI on their social missions. If this reform is adopted, they should resell some their participations in competing subsidiary companies, to which belonged the Real estate credit of France. This reform is justified by the fact that today the SACI have nothing any more but one very limited social activity.
