Public limit company of management of water of Paris
Water of Paris, Public limit company of management of water of Paris , is a company of mixed economy charged to ensure the provisioning of Drinking water of the town of Paris, within the framework of a contract of Concession from public service. It is a Public limit company whose capital is mainly public (Mairie of Paris: 70%). The private partners are the Générale water (group Veolia Environnement) and the Lyonnaise of water (group Suez), 14% each one, which in addition divides the market of water in Paris.
The water which feeds Paris comes for half of subterranean water and half of surface water. Water of river is made drinkable on the sites of Ivry, Orly and Joinville the Bridge. Before distribution, water is stored in five principal tanks: the Haÿ-the-Pinks, the Lilacs, Ménilmontant, Montsouris, Saint-Cloud. Their full capacity is of 1,4 million m ³ of water, that is to say approximately two days of consumption. The distribution of water to the taps of Parisian is entrusted to two privately held companies:
- the Water-company of Paris, subsidiary of General of water, in the north of the Seine (Right Bank),
- Water and Parisian force of water, subsidiary of Lyons of water, in the south of the Seine (Left bank).
Water of Paris is designated as the public or deprived person responsible for the distribution of water. For this reason it is guarantor of water quality to the tap of the consumer, and the pressures.
Water of Paris is certified ISO 9001/2000, since May 1997, for the production of drinking water, and ISO 14001, since May 2000, for the whole of its activities, i.e. the production of drinking water and the management and the maintenance of the works of which it with the concession.
