The Public assistance - hospital of Paris (AP-HP) is a concerning public corporation of health the Ville of Paris, which exerts the role of regional Hospital for Paris and the Île-de-France. It employs more: 90000 people, of which many Doctor S and civils servant of the hospital public office (FPH).

History of the AP-HP

Succeeding the general advice of the old people's homes of Paris, the General Administration of the Public assistance was created by the law of the January 10th 1849.

Administration

The AP-HP is subjected to the majority of the legislative measures and lawful relating to the public corporations of health; it has however a statute which differs on certain points. It is governed by the article and the articles with Public health code.

The AP-HP is managed by a Board of directors of 52 members chaired by the mayor of Paris. This council includes/understands representatives of territorial collectivities, and in particular member staff representatives of the medical Commission of establishment, personalities named by the Ministre S charged with the Santé, the Social security and the Budget, the qualified personalities, the representatives of the users and the representatives of the university world .

The AP-HP is directed by an assisted managing director of a general secretary. These two personalities are named by Décret in the Council of Ministers and occupy of the employment called “to the discretion of the Gouvernement”.

Control on the establishment is not ensured by the only director of the Regional office of the hospitalization (ARH) only for certain competences. The most important decisions are subjected to a Trusteeship Council made up of the director of the ARH and ministers in charge for Health, Social security and Budget.

The AP-HP includes/understands:

  • of the hospital;
  • of the hospital complexes;
  • of the university hospital groupings;
  • of the common services.

Each hospital or hospital complex is attached belongs to a university hospital grouping and the whole of its groupings constitutes the University hospital.

The AP-HP lays out among the common services:

  • of an important service of Files as well as historical Library;
  • of a Museum located in the Hotel of Miramion, which exposes the inheritance of the APHP: for example for the festivities of the bicentenary of the Boarding school (2002), an exposure on the staff waiting rooms was presented there.
